Hi. Just joined today having come across the group. Was diagnosed with tongue cancer at the end of March with 1 lymph node affected. Partial Glossectomy and Neck Dissection on 11th April. Went back to work after 4 weeks when I was eating and talking better. 30 sessions of radiotherapy from 26th May to 6th July. I managed to work for about half of that before giving up! The last few weeks were brutal with having to rely on the feeding tube and struggling with the mucus. 2 weeks after treatment ended though the mucus just disappeared overnight and now I have the dry mouth instead. Eating most things now although no spice or tomatoes and chocolate still tastes rubbish. Was on holiday in Menorca last week and came back to work at the start of this week. Consultant very happy so so far so good. My feeding tube even fell out (not used for about 3 weeks) so I don't need to worry about getting it out!
Hi DAJ and welcome. I’ve replied in another thread but it’s worth saying again. You’re a superhero! Back at work 4 weeks after finishing RT! Crikey!
