Awaiting results of MRI and CT Scans. Biopsy 3 weeks ago revealed the Carcinoma, and the biopsy site is srill raw and painful. Ibuprofen recommended for pain has now apparently affected my kidney function (I'm diabetic). Hospital, 2 hours drive away, say see GP for pain relief, and stress management. Totally useless -- can't get GP appointment, or get anyone from the surgery to contact me. Very isolated and extremely scared. Best wishes to all ........
Hi @ Bodhiprem , sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. Waiting for scan results is awful, but will help get a treatment plan for you. For your biopsy pain, can you use paracetemol safely? It seems to be the "normal" pain relief for biopsy pain, although Ibuprofen does help with inflammation too. If you can't get the support you need from your GP surgery, then recommend you call NHS 24 on 111. Our surgery has been great at responding to our needs and there is usually a duty GP available who will contact you same day if it is urgent. If its affecting your kidney function and you are diabetic too, I'd say it was urgent enough to get a same day response. Hope you get the help you need soon.
Thanks so much for replying --- it helps so much just to know there are other people out there. Paracetamol doesn't seem to touch me, but will hang in there. Shall try GP surgery again on Monday -- a group practice where the admin staff seem to rule the roost! Best wishes ......
Hi sorry you’re in pain. You can buy over the counter co codomol 8 mg which may help if you can take them.
the waiting is by far the worst part of this process it’s the fear of the unknown that gets to us.
I did yoga breathing which helped the stress levels x

Hello, I to had a lot of pain after my biopsy, I reckon 2 weeks before it got better, ibofurofen with codeine was the only thing that helped me, mine had a burst blood vessel also- was almost a relief once it burst! (Disgusting I know) , I know this wait is so hard and so stressful, I’m a couple of weeks ahead of you, my surgery is booked for 31st. Take each day as it comes, don’t overload your head with stress and worry and make things worse for yourself . I found other peoples stories have helped me get through the passed couple of weeks. And how much or a cure rate our cancer has ! Stay positive . I’m here always if you want to talk. On this ride with you!
Hi KB2022 -- well my good news is that my CT scan was clear -- bad news is MRI showed up a "problem" on the other side of my mouth also, and I'm off for another biopsy on Wednesday! Deep joy! 3 weeks since first biopsy and cauterisation,. and still not healed. Also on this ride with you, also here for you, and good luck on 31st.
