Hi everyone

My husband as the cancer he's off work and will be for over a year as he as throat cancer and prostate cancer. I will have to take 6 weeks off work to drive him to treatment as it's over a hour away . I was going to try and get cares allowance but to get that he as be on  pip. Which we are going to try for as he also as copd but we need his treatment plans can you get these off the doctors dose anyone know? Money is the last thing we want to think about but with both of us off work and the cost of the petrol to get there every week that will be over £80 a week. It's going to be hard

  • Hi Twad

sorry to hear your news I had a ping from Dani and yes I still work for Citizens Advice however I would suggest the same to contact MacMillan for financial support advice as they may also have grants available, particularly in regards to the expenses for travelling. As you mentioned you will only get Carers Allowance if PIP is claimed. Also if you haven’t you should claim Universal Credit this is income based. Claiming PIP will not effect your UC income

Go to Citizens Advice website make sure it’s.org as others imitate and under benefits is all Advice how to claim

come back if you have any questions

    hope everything goes ok
