Hi all , pretty new here, tumour to left tonsil, loads of other health issues. Treatment plan 30 RT done 10, ok so far, struggling and being strategic with solid foods, chasing everything down with water. Not much pain (as yet) trying to limit pain killers for later on. Mucus build up starting. Some shooting pain from tumour. Dry mouth. Everything taste like poop.
My spirits having been lifted enormously by reading posts here, thanx to all, roll on the next week, love to you all.

  • Hi Andy. Baby steps  take everything one day at a time. If you can still manage to eat just try to think food is fuel forget about any pleasure derived from food. Yes water ti get it down msy be with you for a while. Glad we are lifting your spirits.

  • Hi Andy. Don't worry about having to leave pain killers for later. The best way to cope with pain is to take analgesia by the clock when you start needing it. That way you aren't chasing the pain. You won't get addicted to it. You'll need more possibly as treatment progresses but we can take an awful lot of morphine before we fall asleep. You just have to come off slowly. For me my pain plateaued around week 4 and stayed there and I think that's the same for most of us.

Don't forget, once you start opiates (and that includes cocodomol) you need laxatives. Your team should include Movicol or Laxido in you carrier bag of stuff. Take it.

Poop? Yes indeed. Keep your chin up it's only a few weeks and it gets better.

Let us know how you get on

  • Thankyou, I’ll take that on board, probably start on regular paracetamol today, as throat starting to hurt, pleased also to hear that it’ll plateau in a couple of weeks rather than escalate for thFingers crossed tone1st of my treatments. Fingers crossed tone1
