Hi, I'm a bit confused with computers so fingers crossed someone can read this. I finished radiotherapy last September and all seems to be going pretty well, but I noticed my saliva glands were a little bigger, then they got a lot bigger and now HUGE. Will they burn themselves out, do they need removing or would Botox injections reduce the swelling. I started off with anti biotics, then citric drinks eg lemon juice and boiled sweets, gentle massage. I had an ultra sound which showed no stones and everything looked normal, I have sialadentis (irritation of saliva glands). I then had a 4 day course of steriods to see if they would shock the glands to do something, They only shocked me, I was dusting ornaments at 1am and my husband said I didn't stop talking for 4 days! Apart from growing they are very painful so I'm on a higher pain patch and morphine. So does anybody know how to get rid of them?
Hi Janey
My advice would be to bypass your GP. Contact your CNS and ask that the hospital treating you sees you. I don’t suppose for a second there is anything serious but it is no doubt caused by your treatment and best dealt with by your team.
If they are already involved then maybe a second opinion is in order
