Hi everyone,
Matt here. 6 weeks ago I had my nose and left eye removed and a neck dissection. Following months of ENT visits they finally diagnosed Squamous carcinoma, it was a total shock and within 4 weeks I had my operation. I’m starting radiotherapy on the 9th of May - 6 weeks of RT with chemotherapy on week 1 and week 4.
I’m feeling ok as I’m lucky to have great support around me. Post op my head is still pretty numb in places and my neck is swollen but no real pain. I was in surgery for 19 hours and then in ICU / HDU got a week - unfortunately this has left me with neuropathy. My feet and lower legs are really painful and it has made walking a chore due to drop foot. I’m hoping that will improve with time.
not sure if anyone has a similar experience, would be great to say helllo. Be lovely to chat to anyone who is going through this weird and unexpected journey.
Keeping positive
Hi Matt and welcome. Sorry to see you here but it’s a good place to be for support.
There is a long running thread here
It might be good to introduce yourself there too and join the conversation

Also there is Dan’s story which though not quite the same has something you might find inspiring. Certainly humbled me

I had the op in the Royal Glamorgan - the team there are fantastic. Radiotherapy will be in Velindre and going to Morriston for my prosthetic. So getting around!
Hey Matt, sounds like some brutal stuff you're going through, nineteen hour op is insane.
Just wishing you all the best for now, loads of support to be had from the guys on here.
