Hi I've been on & off this forum over the last couple of years & always found it really helpful.
I have an awful taste in my mouth, like sour milk.
My surgeon says its not my mouth, & when I Google it, it suggests acid reflux. I don't have reflux unless it's symptomless.
I finished 6 weeks of RT & 2 doses chemo in Nov 2018 (T3N2bM0). I've had this taste on & off for some months but it's getting worse. I have regular CT scans as on follow up from a drug trial, & am not concerned its cancer but does anyone else have this?
Thanks
Cathy
Yes. Me. Reflux is right. I went for a private Gastroscopy and I have a tiny sliding hernia but I think that’s a red herring. Lots of people getting RT to the mouth and throat end up with reflux.
Mine flares up now and then.

Mouth tasted sour till I did something about it. Watch my diet. Take aloe vera juice and melatonin at night which is oesophageal/ gastric mucosa protective.
With a bad flare I got really nasty heartburn.
Get a pH of your saliva. If it’s acid all the time it might be silent reflux.

The other thing to consider is burning mouth or tongue. That's quite a common side effect of RT too. That can give the impression of an acid taste in your mouth.

Hi Cathy I have silent acid reflux plus burning tongue. I’m similar to you finished august 2018. I have learned to identify my trigger foods which for me are cheese tomatoes anything acidic or citrus. Cheap chocolate is a big no no fir burning tongue. My tongue goes scarlet. Plus a lot of fermented foods aren’t any good. I csn do soft cheese hard cheese my favourite I have to balance the pain against the pleasure. If that helps.

Thanks, do you take anything for it? I've just bought some aloe vera juice but I need to be careful with other things as I'm on levothyroxine.
