Hi everyone, not really sure what to expect from this post. I live on my own and haven't had anyone to talk to since having biopsies done on my gums and tongue on 7th April. 3 years ago I had a biopsy which was precancerous and have had follow up appointments since, apart from when in lockdown. I know my condition has worsened as originally it was just white patches on my gum. Now it has spread and I have also had a very painful ulcer under my tongue for the past 3 mths. My speech has also changed and my tongue seems to have a mind of its own. By the end of the day my neck has swollen. I have had a scan on my neck and was told that the swelling is being caused from my mouth. It has been over 2 weeks since biopsies now without results. Is this a good sign? I am going out of my mind without anyone to talk to.
Hi. Honestly this is the worst time the fear in the unknown. Biopsies take their time so am afraid non of us can answer. Your question. Mine was a matter of hours but I had had a fine needle aspiration that had shown cancer cells so tge biopsy was confirmation for me. Please keep off dr google and when you’ve got results let us know. In meantime try to keep distracted and rant on here if you need to.

Hi loupy Lou
Biopdy resukts typically take around two weeks. Have you an appointment scheduled? The doctors’ panel usually has to meet to discuss cases before you get to be informed. I’d give the hospital or your CNS if you have one a ring to find out what’s happening.
Good luck.

Hi Hazel. Thank you for your reply. Hopefully I will have results over the next week and will keep you posted. Being on my own 24/7 hasn't helped but trying desperately to keep myself distracted.
Hi Dani. Thank you for your reply. I don't have an appointment scheduled. Was told results would take 2 - 3 weeks and that I would be contacted once received. As it's been over 2 weeks now, I was presuming that 'no news is good news' but I know that isn't always the case

Yes it sounds like it's waiting for MDT (MultiDisciplinary Team) meeting review, which is common. My hospital MDT meet on a Wednesday and clinics are on a Thursday.

A hold up at the lab is the most likely. Don’t read anything into it. It’s the worst time ever waiting though, isn’t it?

Unfortunately it's not unknown for results to take longer than 2 weeks. They did give you a 2-3 weeks window so chase them up if you havn't heard after 3 weeks.
Dani's right, the wating is pants.
