Hi everyone, I’m at the end of week 2 chemo/radiotherapy and just can’t seem to control sickness! Has anyone else experienced this? As soon as stomach had anything in it I just start retching. I have put meds down peg to see if it helps but no! It’s driving me nuts as I can eat this is stopping me. I rang ward today and advice was take full sickness meds which I am. I just don’t know how to get anything to stay down, any advice? Is anyone else having same problem? Thanks

  • I was as sick as a dog throughout my treatment. I learned to swallow the first retch down … sorry too much info.  If your anti emetics aren’t working  tell your team that you want something else. We tend to get started on the cheapest and they don’t work for everybody.

  • Hi Delilah. As Danis said we do get started in the cheapest anti sickness meds.  I was very lucky they worked for me but I have a friend who ended uo changing hers  8 times and ended up on one that was £10 a tablet it’s a case if keep asking them to change.  Y friend used ti be sick in way ti hiositak took several changes of clothes with her each day it’s really awful. . If you can eat try ginger tea it settled my tummy or even dry ginger ale,

Hope you get sorted on Monday be firm and insist they change them it’s wrong but we do habe to be very pro active.
