  • Hi Kenneth and welcome.
I got away without a stomach tube ( nasogastric instead) but I hear it takes a few days to settle in. Just keep taking the pain killers

I had six weeks of RT. It’s not easy but I managed it and here I am three years later

The effects if the  radiation don’t kick in for two weeks but after that it does ramp up for another six. Stay with us. There’s lots of help here when you need it

    Best wishes

I finished treatment for base of tongue cancer in August 2018.

Glad you've got a nice helpful team around you.  Do let them know stright away if you have any problems as they can try to sort them out quickly for you.  I hope you've also been given a contact number for the Clinical Nurse Specialist.

    All the best.
