I’m 12 months post treatment for tonsil cancer and for the last 8 weeks have had a sore tongue towards the back and an ulcer in the centre of my tongue.
Has anyone else had these issues 13 months after treatment?
Not this long and so far out of RT. Perhaps get your consultant to have another look at it?

Hi has others have said not this length of time. I am prone to ulcers but rarely last longer than a few days usually around tip of tongue ,Gelclair or bonjela sort them out in a few days. My consultant says always get in touch they would sooner see you than wait. Try your c n s to arrange an appointment.

Glad you’ve seen someone. Yes gelclair helps. We tend to forget the treatment s brutal and recovery can be long. Personally I gave burning tongue syndrome it comes and goes I gave learnt to live with ur snd know what my triggers are. Cheese tomatoes anything acidic.

Thanks Hazel, obviously having an ulcer this long does cause concern and worry. Just got to have faith in my consultant!
Hi They’ve got you this far,it’s all we can do. It’s a vicious circle as far as our tongues and ulcers. Maybe try a bland diet for a few weeks and see how you get on as well.
Think early days of recovery worth a try.
