Hi guys and dolls.
When i start my radiotherapy am i still able to see my grandchilren xx
Hi Zakaroo. Of course you will be able to. It is not like the PET scan where you are very slightly radioactive for a few hours afterwards. Just make sure they understand that you are unwell and they need to spoil you rotten so you can get better and then spoil them!
Hi yes not a problem. As long as you can cope with them crawling all over you. We saw our grandson he was 7 at the time. Didn’t use the cancer word just that nana had a poorly throat. He was fascinated by my n g tube. Now he knows I had cancer and what my treatment involved.
Only time I didn’t see him was 24 hours after each pet ct scan.

Thank god, i can still see them, they are 8 and 3. We have told them nanny has to have special medicines to make her throat etter xx
I have ten grandkids and only problem was stopping them from jumping at me and grabbing my neck!
Reminds me, though, of a procedure my wife went through in 1998; she had dreadful thyroid problems and the decision was made to kill the gland with radioactive iodine, and it was actually done in oncology at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital (little did I know then how well I'd come to know that place). She had to drink the iodine and it came out in a container that looked like it was from a nuclear power plant...and then she couldn't be near our kids for around six weeks because she was radioactive, I was allowed to be with her but had to stay away from her neck. Our four older girls we managed to farm out to friends and family but needed our youngest to stay with us, he was not quite two. Tried for a while to live in the same house but in different rooms but it upset him greatly so we ended up with me and him living with my parents, and my wife with hers; they only lived around ten miles apart so I saw her most days. Was such a strange time and Deb missed Josh's second birthday....sorry to waffle on but you sparked the memory.
