If anyone can help with there experience on inner cheek cancer and lymph nodes removed from neck also cheek skin graft and a temporary tracheostomy I would be really grateful.
Hi Bev and welcome to our group. I can offer advice on the neck dissections having had 2. Fire away with questions on that aspect. Whatever you do don't Google the operations as the vast majority of what you will turn up is outdated and really not relevant to modern treatment.
Others will be along soon that have experience in the other areas.

Thanks for the update. Always difficult when it is a child that is unwell. I know as one of my sons has a tumour and we went through all the emotions you are going through right now.
On the neck dissections, in most cases these are easy to recover from. My surgeons were really good and, although they eventually removed most of the lymph nodes on one side, you really have to look to see the scar and I have suffered only relatively minor long term side effects. There is the potential for some fairly major nerve damage. This will be discussed with him, but the surgeons are skilled at minimising anything wherever possible. Within a few weeks I was relatively recovered and 18 month on I suddenly realised I could do most anything I wanted to.
I think the other elements of his treatment will hit him far harder than the dissection. Keep with us and encourage your son to join up if he feels he wants to. There will be plenty of tips on recovery to help him along.
Thanks for your reply it's always reassuring to hear other ppls outcomes and recoverys on trying to grasp anything positive and ppl that have had similar procedures
