I have been diagnosed with throat/neck cancer. I have been told it's treatable. I'm waiting for an MRI a meeting with my specialist and then hopefully treatment. At the moment I am so scared. I suffer with anxiety anyway and have been on medication for several years. I just want to sleep. I drink to cope which is not great but I don't know how else to cope. I can't sleep (even though that's all I want), I can't eat. I feel sick and scared. I called the local mental health line but the person I spoke to sounded more in need of help than me. I just want to talk to people who may understand how I feel; who've either been through what I'm going through or are having a similar experience. I know I should be thankful to be told the things I've been told but I can't rationalise and always think the worst.
Hi Richy
I'm only just catching up after being away for 10 days.
Glad you are well into your treatment cycle. You're postings are getting very much more positive. I know we all have blips, but it is good to see how you are changing. Keep it up.
And, make those life changes you are talking about. You often only get one opportunity and mainly we are too scared to seize it. If there is a benefit to cancer it is that we see life differently and do the things that are important to us and our families now rather than putting them off, often to never happen.
One more then week 1 done. We’re with you hope you’re remembering g to drink plenty of water and keep eating while you can.Chill out for rest if dsy you’ve got this.

Yeah today sucked and tomorrow is another early one for radiotherapy followed by the blood test for chemo. I hope I feel better after tomorrow. I am feeling very low and despite what I’m told I can’t get rid of very negative thoughts. I want to be where you are.

Hi Richy just making you aware yiu might get a steroid drop as well in fact it’s possible what you’re getting right now. It’s a side effect from the inrush of steroids you’ve been given. It might help if you know about it. Don’t feel down pick up your ear buds snd read your book. Or find a box set to watch. Let us know what you like am sure we can come up with some suggestions on what to watch between us.

No worries.
Not sure if message below is allowed on forum. Tried to send in a message but couldn't. Sorry for delay, had a sinus infection that has wiped me out!
Had a search through my notes. Nick (hubby) reckons SLT is called Katie, Dianne I mentioned was one of the dieticians. The key workers would be able to help though. They are Jayne Tipper, Gemma Jones and Sam Reynolds. All contactable on 01902 695419 or rwh-tr.headneckcns@nhs.net. Found the radiologist, oncologist, dietician , etc but not SLT! Sorry, pretty useless but hope they can help.

I struggle to watch TV at the moment or movies. My mind can't keep away from negativity. Also, Christmas is usually one of my favourite times of the year but this year is not going to be a good one. The only upside is that when Christmas ends I'll be half way through my treatment. 2021 has been a terrible year for us; I just hope 2022 is better. If it begins with me being rid of this thing then that can't be too bad. Week one over tomorrow though, so that's something too.
