I've very recently been diagnosed with a Lymphoma in the side of the neck, and its been advised to to have radiotherapy of the neck - really worried about the side effects, esp permanent effects, of radiation to the neck  - has anyone got experience of the risks involved ?

  • Hi Prianka , Sorry to hear that , I have had radio therapy to my neck both sides where my cancer has spread to lymph nodes. No problems except barber chair syndrome which is apparently a temporary thing , so all in all I am delighted alive with no long term problems  . All the Best Regards Minmax

  • Hi prianka and welcome. Most of us here have had radiotherapy which was either directed at cancerous lymph nodes or passed through the tissues on the way to somewhere else. Acute effects can resemble sunburn  and permanent ones can be fibrosis of the structures under the skin, discolouration such as Telangectasia (spidery red marks) and damage to the carotid arteries. You should discuss this with your oncologist.

I see you have joined a lymphoma group already. The info there might be more accurate than here
