Tongue base primary cancer and metatastic left neck SCC, also lung nodules showed up on PET SCAN.

My Dad is 75 and has just been diagnosed in the last couple of weeks.  More biopsies to be taken this week to determine treatment plans.  Can anyone point me in the direction of reading material so I can understand his diagnosis?  Any help would be appreciated.   thank you

  • Hi, Anondaughter, I'm sorry I can't recommend any reading material for you, but please do not go on to Google, it is full of  inaccurate information, which can scare the life out of you. I'm sure someone will come along soon with more help for you. All the best to you and your Dad.

    Regards Ray.

  • Hi Anondaughter

Sorry to hear your Dad has had this diagnosis. You are in the right place for help and support though

Macmillan has some useful information. Just click on the links I've created.

This is a page on  OROPGARYNGEAL CANCER

You might find this page on TREATMENT OPTIONS useful too

The Cancer Research UK has some useful pages and you could start HERE

Please stay off any Google pages quoting survival statistics in particular. Most are out of date and each one of us is different anyway.

As an aside I have two lung nodules on my CT scan. They are common in older people and most, like mine, are the result of some previous infection (I had pneumonia as a child) and are not cancer.

Fingers crossed for your Dad and please do pop back with any other questions you might have.

There is a wealth of experience her
