Hi there everyone. Just need some advice about dry mouth.   What are everyone s best tips please.  I bought some Biotene mouthwash and was wondering if anyone has used that?   I am just rinsing and spitting at the moment.  But pretty dry last night.  I have got xyilemelts but haven’t used yet.  Can I use now?   Any advice welcome.

  • The best thing ever I found for stimulating saliva when I was out of treatment was chewing gum. Don’t have to chew all the time, simply park it in my cheek. I must admit I very rarely need it now

  • Hi Lizzie

I was prescribed Biotene mouthwash and still et it on prescription 3 years later.

In the early days of dry mouth I found Biotene didn't exactly promote saliva but did help to freshen and moisten the inside of my mouth for a short while.  Once I started to produce some saliva I did find the Biotene more effective.   I still use it now as it helps promote saliva, especially after eating when my mouth is very dry.

I've found xylimelts really helpful overnight. Also have you tried salivix pastilles? Biotene is useful to freshen your mouth, but sucking  the salivix pastilles gives a longer lasting effect
