Hi again
Have any of you here experienced lactose intolerance after chemotherapy ? I've not been eating a lot of dairy as I noticed that it contributed to more of a mucous build up but yesterday I had some yoghurt in the morning - and felt quite ill after and then had some in the evening and basically vomitted it all straight up again. Thinking about it it was probably also a shock to my system after not having much dairy.
I'd also had my first Fortiship drink with it and that came up too. I'm now feeling a little nervous about eating again but know that I must keep getting the calories in.
Thanks
Sasha
Hi Sacha. I'm pretty sure Fortisips are lactose free. You're coming up to week five RT?
Are you on morphine or cocodomol?
I presume you've been avoiding all the foods you've been told to after chemo?
I had a lot of nausea from around this time (though I didn't have chemotherapy) in fact I threw up my NG tube it was so bad. I learned to anticipate the event and sort of swallow it down. I put it down to the morphine which I know has nausea as a common side effect.
You could try diluting the Fortisip with a goodly amount of water. Even PEG fed these gloopy drinks can be upsetting till you get used to them.
If none of these apply then maybe have a word with your radiographers today?
I hope you get on top of it because it can be quite debilitating

Hi Dani
no I wasn’t told to avoid any foods after chemo - maybe I should look that up.
I actually feel a lot better today. I think knowing what it was that contributed to my nausea has helped.
Fortunately we have a lot of dairy substitutes in the house as my partner is trying to go vegan.
I’ve just had a coffee with oat milk and a roll with marg and jam - a real childhood food experience (apart from the taste!).
I’m taking co codamol and paracetamol in the day and co codamol at night. I have oramorph buy haven’t needed it yet.
I’m able to eat and swallow still, now I’ve worked out the dairy issue I feel more confident.
Im sorry your experience sounds awful. I was worried about my PEG when I was sick but it seems ok.
I read your blog Beesuit. I’m envious of your rural life in Wales - my partner is Welsh xxx
