Hello all!
I had T4N2 Tonsil Cancer spreading up to BoT, treated with CRT 15 months ago, and CT Complete Responses until now. A lung node grew minimally (they initially thought it was a cold or inflammation) so it prompted an investigation PET. The scan lit up the lung node and to my surprise a neck node and rectum uptake (the rectum is almost surely inflammation having had sigmoidoscopy already).
Neck node has been biopsied and came back positive. Still waiting lung biopsy, they are suspicious, I myself have a feeling it will be nothing (or a new primary, brain alert is turned on high).
I have had structural damage to my neck after CRT, swallowing is not free with gallons of water to down still, oedema has cleared substantially after my own care, my neck changed overnight in appearance but I can live with it. That is the end of it though! Neck and me went through a lot, I am not comfortable being sliced up and clearing healthy tissue.
I refuse any incision that will do even more structural damage and impact quality of life. I am wondering what do people who went through similar think? I am being treated at the Royal Marsden, where they have SBRT and immunotherapies, etc. But I feel bad for declining salvage surgery if it is presented to me. I feel it will.
Please tell me your thoughts! I know I am jumping the gun here.
Nuno
