Croaky Voice

Hi Jako 

I’m 20 weeks post treatment and have a croaky voice when I wake in the morning.  My vocal cords are fine and was told by S&L that’s it’s due to dryness overnight.  I just drink plenty of water and  iced decaf lattes which works for me. Honey and warm water is soothing as well.

Good evening Jako, I find that my husband's voice sounds different since finishing treatment,especially first thing in the morning. It has somewhat settle,but he definitely still sounds croaky when he laughs. Our speech therapist said the same to him when he first finished treatment,lack of saliva had a big impact on his speech too. He suggested to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. Fellow wife Mel

Yes!

Croaky, weak, loosing it mid sentence loads, but also lower than it used to be. 

Language and speech weren't concerned, they said if 6 months after finishing radiotherapy it's still problematic, they will refer to speech therapy.

I don't see it getting better at the moment, radiotherapy finished in June.

Same here in the early days. Dreadful voice first thing. Cup of tea sorted it. 

My Mrs says it makes me sound sexy haha. It’s not an issue for me just like to know things are normal

I was signed off from speech and language today. I’m only 10 weeks out

I’m definitely better after a coffee in the morning but it’s still slightly croaky all day

I didn’t see mine at all after treatment finished 

Hi Jako,

Mine differs day to day. Some days im really croaky ,others im fine. As others have mentioned mouth dryness affect it ,especially in the morning and on hot days. Warm water with honey in the morning helps. Its definitely a lower pitch than it used to be.
