Following a very wide excision for precancerous changes along my lateral tongue, under tongue and floor of mouth back in late May this year, I eventually got my follow up appointment with the consultant on 26th August. He told me that the histology showed no cancer present but there were a lot of medium pre cancerous cell changes and a few serious cell changes. Also he noted that there appears to be a couple of new small growths/lumps right at back on side of tongue same side as I had the excision. He said he will review in 6-8 weeks and that i may then need a further biopsy of this area. This is causing me to feel stressed over what might be to come following that. Am I worrying over nothing?

It’s natural to feel worried but at least you have the advantage that the previous surgery showed no cancer and you have a consultant on top of things.
He is sufficiently concerned to have a further look. He would be failing his duty of care if he dismissed you. Fingers crossed there is no further action.
