I am 8 weeks after finishing radiotherapy.
I feel almost OK, just one thing that worries me and would like to ask about.
Around 2 to 3 weeks ago I have developed a swelling around the exact area where the radiation was directed.
My GP said it will take ages for my referral to go through if they send it and to contact my oncologist which I will see on 1st of September.
My worry is that I find it strange it happened few weeks after radiotherapy finished and that it means something bad.
I don't have any lumps anywhere, literally the skin all around the neck feels stretched and swallen. Exactly the area that was treated.
Any advice on that please?
Should it pass by itself or should I panic?

I did phone my hospital. They said same thing as you did.
They asked if I am still using Flamigel Rt. And I'm not, I have given my last tube to someone who started radio last week and was not given the gel. I thought my body is OK now. And it isn't and I'm such an idiot 

I had to plead with pharmacy to order the gel for this afternoon and prescription will come in later today.
Do we need to use Flamigel FOREVER?

No I have used Aveeno as a moisturiser ever since I finished. Works really well and is gentle.
As for swelling it’s maybe lymphodema but do check with your hospital.
Anything that crops up after treatment should be run past your CNS not your GP.

My paperwork from Clatterbridge says they will only offer advice up to 6 weeks after ending the treatment, anything after it's up to my GP.
Which is annoying and I still phoned them and it is longer than 6 weeks after treatment ended, but from now on it will have to be GP in my case.

Heavens, I’ve never heard that. What if you have a serous concern? Do you have to go through a two week referral from primary care?
I was told to by pass my GP forever, even after the five years.
