Hi,
I’ve completed 23/30 radiotherapy sessions. I’ve applied Flamigel throughout but last couple days skin on neck is drying out and peeling and stings when I apply gel.
just seeing if there is anything else I can be doing to help both for last 4 days of treatment and beyond.
thanks
Flamazine is great to use after your last zap. Ask for that?
I used aloe vera gel which was really soothing.

A month ago (last session of radiotherapy) I had the skin on neck peel to a raw wound. Nurses have send the specialist wound nurse in with flaminal forte cream and polymem dressing. He told me to apply to the wound (it was weeping already) and it was heeled in 7 days. I hope you will also be sorted. All the best. Izzy.
Sorry, just seen that reply.
I am much better now, everyone are surprised I am so well so quickly.
I have finished radiotherapy on 12th of June straight from last session went to the ward and stayed for 2.5 weeks due to malnutrition and pain.
The wound cleared up after a week, all good. Pain relief sorted although it took a while for the hospital staff to sort hence my 2.5 week stay.
NG tube removed last Monday, as I was having all food and drink by mouth. I feel much better without it, and the pain in my throat is better without it!
From tomorrow I'm starting to reduce oxycodone, lower dose weekly until can be swapped to co-codamol.
I am having Ensure drinks daily, and eating some food as well. Only soft like cottage cheese, puddings, omelettes. Ensure has 300 kcal, so I try to substitute one drink daily with food that has 300 kcal.
Any other questions give me a shout.
Izzy.

Thank heavens you got it sorted in the end. Hospital wards are rubbish at organising pain relief on time. The three days I spent on a cancer ward the long acting morphine I was prescribed was administered twice daily and had to be signed off by a doctors before each dose. Always late, always climbing the wall in pain. Madness
My GP was great. Always gave me a months supply which husband collected from pharmacy after signing the poisons register.
I got no advice about taper. Just as well I already knew. It didn’t stop me saying…”Sod it I don’t need this stuff anymore “ and stopping just like that. It didn’t last more than three hours. Daft !
