I’m 8+ years after treatment for throat cancer and am cancer free. Complications over the years now mean that I am RIG dependent and have regular chest infections as a result of harbouring a bacteria in my lungs that can only be subdued using daily prophylactic antibiotics. I am otherwise healthy and (reasonably) able and can manage my daily medication and feed and water intake using the RIG.
At some point I would like to go abroad on holiday but am unsure of who the best companies are to obtain valid travel insurance at a competitive price. Does anyone have any experience of similar circumstances?
I had difficulty getting insurance...cancer and heart problems...arthritis...after a recent heart attack my insurance company dropped me....contacted Saga directly by phone and got sorted with a policy...not cheap...now with payingtoomuch.com.
Make sure you have a GHIC...some insurance companies require you to have it...and it's very handy....

That’s really good. I had to pay £166 for a single trip to Thailand. I’m 2.5 years post treatment so I hope it will get cheaper as time goes on
Hi.
I was in the same boat as most of us here.
I found these page that has the list of all specialist insurance companies, that are able to insure us in most stages of the treatment.
When you choose your details from the drop down menu it will give you the list of insurers and then you just go through the list until you find the best value one.
It will take some time but there is a good chance you will not have to take a mortgage to buy travel insurance.
Thanks!
Izzy.
