I finished RT in January and only recently got my nasogastric tube out. I had my PET scan which showed the tonsil cancer was gone but there is now a spot on my lung. New CT scan today and then 3 sessions of very high dose RT starting in 10 days time. Its a big shock to the system as i just wasn’t expecting that. Although its now stage 4 the oncologist says he’s still aiming to cure me. I’ve had several infections recently and the antibiotics have damaged my stomach lining and given me really bad nausea and diarrhoea that i’ve now had for nearly 5 weeks so that’s making me miserable too and i’ve lost a lot of weight.Anyone else been in a similar position and came out ok?
My husband had stage 4 and then it came back again in his tongue. He is now five years clear. I had awful nausea and had medicine for it but eventually had to have a NJ tube to bypass my poor stomach. Definitely talk to your nurses and dietician about this. X
Great news he’s been clear for so long. Yes i think I’ll end up getting another NG tube put in
Not NG. Nasojejunal. It goes down a bit further and it might give your stomach a chance to heal. Worth asking. Good luck.
