Well I am now 5 weeks post treatment and the horrible gloopy mouth is nearly all gone thank god, horrible and painful is an understatement. Throat is a tiny bit sore still when I swallow or worse when I yawn.
taste wise, can start to taste somethings, has some sausages last night and they tasted really nice and garlic bread which was just “a taste sensation” however anything sweet tastes of nothing, not good as I have Easter eggs on the side but they will keep (hopefully). Still using my peg for fortisips and paracetamol which is what I’ve had all through treatment, didn’t want to be bunged up.
its the waiting game now to see if everything has worked. Seen consultant in May which seems ages away.
I had my savoury taste return about 4-5 weeks after the end of my radiotherapy and then sweet a couple of weeks later. I was eating dinner at a friends and they had yogurt with a berry compote and I realised I could taste the berry. It was so so good. Hopefully yours will return soon and you can tuck into the Easter eggs. All my taste was normal before Christmas (finished radiotherapy mid November) so the timing was perfect
