Hi all

Just a question I am 1 and 1/2 years out from treatment from tonsil and throat cancer and have been have chest pains and discomfort for a short while. I am off for a chest xray today.

Has anyone had a recurrence of the disease in another area of the body?

I haven’t personally but it does happen, not often though.
Have a look at Anson’s blog. He us cancer free for three years after two year’s immunotherapy

Do remember, it’s winter and there are lots of viruses about. I’ve just had an invite for RSV vaccine.
There’s also reflux which is really common after RT. I’m on PPI permanently.

  • Not the same thing maybe...I was advised to source a GTN spray by the oncology team prior to treatment as angina could  surface during or after chemoradio treatment...Atrial fibrillation did appear...happens to some cancer head and neck patients.

  • Thanks for your replies.

I'm not unduly worried at present as I have other post treatment issues that have come up too.

Waiting for surgery to remove surgical clip from stomach which got stuck in stomach wall after removing feeding tube and referred to maxfax as jaw is making cracking noises and causing pain in face and neck so feel a bit like I've gone back a few steps not forward lately.

    Falling apart here Joy

  • Yes...it does seem like one step forward and then three back at times... but things do improve...takes time and endurance....

    Good luck.

  • Oh dear you are having a few issues at the moment. In relation to the chest issues. Like Dani I sometimes get heartburn which can be really uncomfortable and distressing. I have found that taking a heartburn medication from over the counter does solve it for me.  Maybe you have already tried that to discount it as an issue. In relation to the recurrences. It is not that common to get an recurrence so close to your first cancer treatment especially in another part of your body. You sound as though you are on top of things though so fingers crossed that can be discounted. I do hope things improve for you so you soon so you can move forward and those backward steps are a thing of the past.

    Best wishes
