Hi all. Been to my oncologist today, ive large deep tonsil tumour with spread to parts of tongue. I was terrified but feel a little more settled now ,knowing I'm in the system properly and the wheels are turning. Only thing that's worrying still is they found a 7mm blip as he called it in my chest.so hes put t4n0m0/1 (i think he said) and said they'll check it in 3 months.
I'm now waiting for the pre treatment appointments .Dental check, hope I don't need any out. Peg fitted (not looking forward to that) and final scans and mask made.
I'm having treatment at clatterbridge cc liverpool. Has anyone else been here. And if so, did you have the transport . Was it a minibus and was you there all day be cause if transport? The oncologist reckoned I may be able to drive 1st few days but then be too tired ?
Thanks
Tracy

Is this on PET or CT?
I had two lung nodules on CT. One was sub pleural ( a favourite place for lung cancer) so I was re scanned three months later.
Nothing had changed so there was no further action. Lung nodules are common in older folk and they are usually benign and due to previous infection

Hello Lotty, so sorry about your diagnosis,as a fellow wife I can feel for you. My husband found himself in a similar situation back in September 24. He is now 14ish mths post treatment, after 30rounds of RT and 2 rounds of Cisplatin. He got treated at the Clatterbridge Liverpool. We couldn't fault them at all. All the staff were so helpful and professional. Living in the Warrington area, we had hospital transport all through the treatment. All our appointments were around 2pm,so we got picked up from home about an hour before. Some days we had to pick someone up on the way,but most of the time it was just us. Car usually sent was private transport. The downside was when it came to be taken home afterwards, the waiting time were long at times, sometimes we didn't get home till 6pm. Long days. Your oncologist is right in saying that you probably be tired at some point into treatment, my husband started to feel very fatigued about two weeks into treatment and slept all the way home. Also he is doing well considering, the road to recovery was cruel. But I couldn't think about the alternative. On this note I wish you all the best for your journey. Mel x
Hi Tracy, have you been given a treatment plan yet? We had a complete list of all our appointments, from speech therapist, nutritionist and blood tests,Keith had two rounds of CT,with each being on the same day as RT,those days were extremely long. Being at the Clatterbridge Center, you will probably learn, that every department involved in your treatment is in the same building, can't remember how many times we have been going up and down in that lift. Lol.The area downstairs for the RT has usually got the TV on,but bringing books or crossword puzzles is probably a good idea. Will you have company to go with you?
Hi ,Not yet I've just seen the oncologist today, who said that I will get calls soon with the dates. I guess it will be given when I attend first pre treatment appointment. I've just sent consent email back so I guess he needed that first.
I wasn't planning on taking anyone with me. Maybe one day a week when my hubby is off he will stay with me , but I'm not that bothered sitting alone. They can't really do anything can they to be honest. Or do you think I should. Many of my customers who i ve kniwn for years,( im a hairdresser) have said if you want me to go with you I will. But I don't know if they're just being polite.

Tracy I can speak only for our situation, but my hubby was more comfortable with me being there, was more for support ,coming out of his treatment, especially when it got to the end of the treatment. He got very fragile towards the end,the treatment took alot out of him. But then I was fortunate enough to have an understanding boss and flexible contract that I was able accompany him. As I said, some days we had to go up and down in that lift to get to different levels for appointments. Just couldn't watch him doing this by himself.
Into the third week you will be getting mighty uncomfortable and having somebody with you will likely be pretty useful if not necessary.
My husband came with me to all my sessions and drove me there too. In the last two weeks i used to sleep in the car on the way home.

We have been talking elsewhere on how our friends not only drift away but abandon us because they can’t deal with cancer so they disappear. I’m not sure that’s the whole story. I feel we need to help them through it as well as ourselves. Of course we have to pick the ones we can trust.
if you have it in you take up offers especially in the beginning when you aren’t feeling too bad. Some of your customers may well surprise you.
