So I had my Mould mask fitting today which actually went well in fact it was quiet relaxing .Ct scan was as usual a little trouble finding the vein for the canula but 3rd time lucky..All positive then came home to find my Diagnoses letter in the letter box which when you see it in black and white seemed to hit home all over again. Felt like I'd been punched in the stomach all over again .Then my daughters came home from college and organised a file for me the all my appointments and treatments which really helped and they set up alarms on my phone for my Mouth excercises so feeling OK again now. Roll on next week
I finished treatment for a tumour at the base of my tongue - radio and chemo 27 months ago. All I can say is take it one step at a time. I had great advice on this forum and I think.the most notable was its a marathon not a sprint.
Ive been lucky and I've got through it pretty much unscathed (so far). Its natural to be anxious, but I believe from what I've seen and heard, this type if cancer is one that has a very good success rate - so trust the process.
Lots of luck and keep asking questions, the folks that give generously of their time on this forum are very knowledgeable.
Rachel age 59 and enjoying food again
organised a file for me the all my appointments and treatments which really helped
Later on you’ll need either a spreadsheet for meds and food or just a list pinned on your kitchen wall. That helps too
I had a simple list and a file for appointments and letters.
I kept my discharge letter after five years but the rest was ceremoniously burned in the Rayburn

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
That's great to hear your doing so well and thanks for your advice .
Well done with the mask fitting and CT scan Perry, i used to hate having canulas fitted, especially after a couple of attempts, i found that some nurses are better than others at doing this, which is only natural, i used to look the other way . That's a brilliant idea, with your daughter organising a folder for you, as you will find it gets very busy with appointments etc., i think i still have my folder in the loft from 2008. Now all you have to do is concentrate on the next steps, i tried to keep myself occupied so it took my mind off the operations and treatment. Wishing you all the best, take care.
Chris
