Hello everyone, yesterday I had results back from Pet and CT scan, which was no cancer spreading which was fantastic. However lympthatic lump on neck has got smaller after chemo radiotherapy . But could still be felt by consultant, was offered 2 choices either wait for radiotherapy months, with a CT scan every 2 months or neck op. I chose waiting for the 2 months, rather than neck surgery. As chemo radiotherapy side effects still on going. Am 15 weeks post treatment and I live alone . I am hpv left side t1nomo right side t2n1mo .
Has anyone else been in this situ please
Cheers Cassie
Hi Cassie
Lots of folk here with large lymph nodes after RT. It’s common. As long as you are being reviewed frequently watch and wait would avoid further surgery

Base of tongue cancer. T2N0M0 6 weeks Radiotherapy finished January 2019
Hi Cassie.
I'll be hopefully getting my results post treatment on 16th Feb (currently week 13 pt).
Did they express any surprise that there was still something there?. I was told that if there was still "shadowing" post treatment they would operate to remove.
I constantly have ulcers at the base of my tongue (currently a large one in right side causing earache and left side sores. I was told that this could give a false result on pet scan & that I may need another one in couple months.
I guess you're able to change your mind at any point but holding off for another scan sounds like a good plan.
Were you completely healed at the time on scan? Things have been very slow for me.
Good luck with everything.
Becky T4N1M0 hpv+ 30/30 rt 5/6 chemo.
Hi Becky yes getting there with healing, can eat but struggle with appetite. Have got tongue ulcers but they don't cause any pain, was told they could give false readings in Pet Scan. Are you having a CT scan as well? Hope healing speeds up for you, I am on b12, d3, k2 and omega 3. Also lots of fruit and veg in diet as well as 4 fortisips aday.
Your doing brilliantly in a very challenging period of life x
Oops should have read wasn't told that ulcers can give false reading in a Pet Scan
Hi. Thank you!
Im only managing ice cream & soup do still on 6 fortisips per day! Maybe i havent been the ideal patient!?!. It all just hurts too much.
I'll update when I get my results.
Becky
No everybody heals at their own pace, you are doing extremely well in a life changing situation. Would say though if you can, drink alot of water . I struggle with the physiological effect miss who I once was, and freakout about the side effects.
Hope things improve quickly for you
Hi Cassie
I have had 2 dissections, but before CRT. Generally it is not as bad as it sounds, but as Dani says I would leave it for the time being to see what happens. Any noticeable changes speak to your CNS rather than waiting for the next appointment and they will generally see you early to put your mind at rest.
I drink lots of iced water & found diet coke is good!
Its a shame I had an extreme dental phobia before treatment
Thank you
Becky
Thanks Peter, yes its seems the best way to let the body heal by itself .
