Hi everyone,
You've all been so helpful in the past, so reaching out again.
My dad was first diagnosed in 2020 and unfortunately the fight continues. When he was diagnosed in August 2020 the treatment options seemed a bit brutal and he decided to change is diet and do IV Vitamin C. That seemed to decrease the size of his tumor and cancer markers. Probably not the best course of action, but I had to leave him to make his own decisions. In Feb 2022 he had a radical neck dissection, but still didn't want to do radiation or chemo. There was no sign of disease for a while but in the summer of 2024, it had come back. He finally did chemo and radiation for seven weeks at the end of 2024. He had a clear CT in June of last year, and then a clear MRI in October. In January he felt a pimple on his neck, but it started to grow and an MRI showed that a lymph node was showing signs of cancer again. He needs to do a PET Scan and if it's localised will need surgery again.
I don't expect that anyone has had the same journey, but curious about anyone that's had recurrence success. I'm just feeling scared and a bit helpless, as I really thought that the chemo and radiation would do it.
It is an HPV + type of cancer. .
Appreciate you all.
Sorry to read about your dad. HPV+ cancer can respond well to immunotherapy. Maybe that might be offered.
There are forum members who have done well. One, in fact, is three years clear of his last Pembrolizumab. You can read about his journey HERE

Good evening Daughter234, sorry to hear about your Dad, unfortunately the cancer can and does return in some cases, i had my first operation followed by radio/chemo in 2008 and another operation in 2009 and 2010. Thankfully, 2010 was my last operation, as they finally managed to stop it. Wishing you and your dad all the best with the scan results.
