My dad (65) was diagnosed with stage four head and neck cancer 2 years ago. After radiotherapy and chemo we got a great prognosis
all has been going well until a month ago and he’s found a lump in his neck, had a scan and biopsy recently. My question is, do consultants give cancer diagnosis over the phone? We have a telephone consultation next Friday and I don’t know what to expect?
do consultants give cancer diagnosis over the phone?
Yes possibly is the answer but it might just be an appointment made by admin. Biopsy results take two to three weeks. When was this taken?

He had the scan and biopsy 3 weeks ago, we had a telephone appointment on Monday there to be told the results weren’t through yet and they are still under microscope, this in itself is a worry. New appointment came through today for next Friday but everytime before we went to the hospital and spoke to the consultant so this is new to us!!
the worry is that the cancer is back as my dad received a very high dose of radiotherapy 5 days a week for 6 weeks for tongue cancer and was told he wouldnt be able to have radio for another 10 years!!
Fingers crossed for your dad. If the cancer is back surgery may be an option, but let’s hope not
