I had a phone call from the hospital this morning. My biopsy results are now back and I am being transferred from MaxFac to ENT. I have to see a Consultant on Tuesday afternoon and I am to take my husband with me. I have looked the Consultant up on the internet and he is the clinical lead for head and neck Oncology. So there's no doubt that it's going to be a cancer diagnosis. Fingers crossed that it'll be treatable. My main worry is that the amount of radiotherapy I had in 2013 might cut down any treatment options now. Hopefully I'll feel happier after Tuesday when I should find out details of the diagnosis and what they can do about it.
Hi Margaret,
Just a quick note to wish you well. Hopefully it’s been found early and will be fully treatable. Sending hugs

Good evening Margaret, during my last operation, i was being seen by two consultants, one from MaxFac and one from ENT, The reason was that the issue i had was in a crossover point where it needed two opinions from the departments, i was told I was being spoiled by getting the attention of two consultants . So maybe your issue is more to do with the throat than the head and neck. I also had radiotherapy after my first operation, so i was limited to how much more i could have, but i believe there are new treatments available which are not as harsh. Hope all goes well for Tuesday, take care.

Hi Margaret. Sorry to hear about the potential diagnosis for more cancer. I too have had more occurrences 3 lots of cancer in total all related to my jaw over the years starting in 2013. I had ops and radiotherapy for 2 of the cancers as the radiotherapy was on opposite sides of my jaw. For the 3rd. cancer I was not able to have more radiotherapy as I had already had my quota. It is now 3 years since my last op and I am doing fine. Living a good life and looking forward to every day. I also was seen by ENT and MaxFac. The doctors from these departments were fantastic and worked together so well. There were even 3 doctors there for one of my ops all working together. As things get a bit more complicated each of their expertise makes such a difference to a good outcome. You will be in good hands. It is amazing what they can do nowadays.
Thinking of you
