When I had my cancer in 2013 it took them ages to find the source.  It was very frustrating but it turned out that it took so long because the primary cancer was so tiny.  I had a healthy set of tonsils removed while they were trying to find it.  

It is easily said, but difficult to do... Try to relax.  I see from your earlier posts that you may have been to the GP for some help with the anxiety this is putting you through.  Maybe go again to the GP?

H&N cancers can be difficult to find.  They chased mine for 4 years before they found a tumour that stayed put long enough for me to decide that it was worth treating (see my profile).  It is highly unlikely that you will be in a situation of "nothing more to be done".  I suspect they are looking for the primary to make sure you have the best possible outcome from what is brutal treatment.  You may lose a few bits that once pathology has looked at them do not have cancer in them, but the more they can narrow it down the better for you and, you will then make an informed decision as to how you want to proceed.

They know what they are doing so try and trust them..  Maybe a call to chat things through with your CNS will help??

Good evening Danzig6ee1b0, please try not to worry as its just so they can get your diagonses right, i once had a biopsy and by the time i drove home i was asked if i could go back straight away because they need to test more of the tissue.Its for your benifit as well as the consultant to get as much information as possible so they get it right first time. We all know how hard it can be waiting for the results , i just kept myself busy and steered clear of google im sure they would not tell you any results over the phone it is normally done face to face where there will be a nurse there along with your consultant so everything is explained, its best if you take someone with you for company and support.
