Low blood Count Anemia

Has anyone experienced a low blood count, HGB 132, as a result of the radiotherapy? No chemo was involved.

  • That measurement refers to haemoglobin which is low if you are male, OK if female. Did your test measure iron as well? Inflammation can reduce iron levels and we get a heck of a lot of that during treatment. You are around three months out of treatment? How's your eating? Not getting enough Iron might be contributing.

How are you feeling in yourself?

  • Eating is coming along but I don’t eat a lot. Pretty fatigued as well. I have lots of energy in the morning but by later afternoon, need a nap for sure.

  • Good evening Db1960, i had to have two blood transfusions, one midway through my radio and chemo, and one at the end. The consultant just said its just the treatment that caused my low blood count. All the best.
