Hi, was wondering if anyone has been offered to take part in the JADE trial? It’s being offered to my partner who has cancer of the tonsil and neck. She’s 1 week post 2 chemo and 30 radiotherapy sessions and they are looking to speak to us in the next week. I’ve done loads of research and they have given us a fairly well informed pack. Would be good to connect with anyone who is currently in the trial or in fact been involved in the first two phases. She’s 47 still working and the commitment is significant so trying to establish as much as we can before taking any decisions.

thanks Gillian

  • Hi Gillian. I did a quick search for you and there aren’t any posts in this group. Somebody who is part of this trial but who doesn’t post may see your post and join in.
Meanwhile I can say that I have a friend who is now four years clear of T4 throat cancer treated with the usual CRT plus another checkpoint inhibitor Durvalumab.
Durvalumab and Dostarlimab are both checkpoint inhibitors but act in different ways

Dostarlimab targets the PD-1 receptor, while Durvalumab targets the PD-L1 protein…. but I’m sure you probably know this.

  • PS. Checkpoints are being investigated in the curative setting so your partner is at the sharp end of this. Plain CRT has always been the standard but anything that increases the chance of cure must be really welcome.
I wish you all the best and do please update us if you decide to go ahead and do actually get selected for the drug.

  • Thanks very much Danni for your reply. Will let you know if we decide to go ahead. Part of the quandary is that it’s 50/50 drug v placebo and you don’t find out until 2029 which one you got, so lots to weigh up!

  • What TNM is she?
