My throat seems to be getting progressively worse. I am 7 months post treatment and have been told I am taking longer than usual to heal. Im so worried about my throat as something has changed and I'm in terrible pain. I do have an mri on Monday and dreading what they will find. My second biopsy after my PET scan in February said to malignancy found, but my throat has become even drier since all this pain in it.

Two years plus since CRT finished, my throat was still very sore after 12 months, I was still using Difflam and cocodamol to help with the pain, it is still improving I have the odd day when my throat hurts I use a Difflam gargle and soluble paracetamol to relieve the pain, this seems to be the new normal.
Dry mouth issues still plague me, plenty of hydration and Biotene gel help a lot. Oncology are aware of my issues and seem OK with my progress.

I would bring it up at your next meeting, but I think it's just the fact that you're still healing.. I think that sometimes we forget the hell that our bodies have been through, and expect too much too soon.. healing from this is not going to be quick.. 15 months down the line, and I'm still struggling with dry mouth.. and I don't expect much improvement any time soon, TBH.

Hi Angela. It's good you are having a mri, which hopefully will put your mind at rest. I wouldn't say you are taking longer to heal after only 7 months, we all heal at different rates. I'm now over 7 years post treatment, and even now it doesn't take much for me to get a sore throat.
Ray.
I did pop this reply into the other thread where you asked the same question.
Just in case you hadn’t seen it
Has the pain settled after that biopsy you had?
What are you doing to try to ameliorate the dryness? Seven months is actually still fairly early. I was told that recovery would take a year with improvements continuing till two.
Have you tried a water spray which moistens a little better than sipping water. Can you chew gum? Not only does the gum get saliva flowing but it makes you swallow more. Swallow exercises? Are you still doing those to help stop fibrosis? I was told that these are for life.
It goes on and on...doesn't it?
