Small lump

Hi everyone and hello. I have a small lump just below my jaw, where it attaches to the skull. It’s not painful, but the back of my neck is constantly sore. I also have a mild sore throat that I can’t shift. I have spoken to my GP’s secretary who informs me the next available appointment is 2 weeks away. From your experience, am I ok to wait. Thanks

  • Phone in at 8.30 and get seen the same day? It might put your mind at rest if nothing else. However a two week weight won’t make much difference if you need to be referred to hospital.

  • Hi there, not sure if this will help, but in my husbands case we first got the same reaction from GP, but we weren't happy with that,we went to our local walkincentre with our concern, got seen and referred to ENT with the remark, don't worry,it might be nothing, turned out that we had good reason for concern. The ball got rolling rather quickly from then, inwithin two weeks we had appointments for MRIs PETscans etc. I guess if we would have waited for that GP appointment to come available,we would have lost pressous time. Stay positive and fingers crossed for you. Fellow wife Mel.

  • Good evening, Farmer Nick. I would try pushing for an earlier appointment, as I don't think you should have to wait this long, especially when lumps are concerned. You need to be checked out by a professional; your doctor's secretary should know better. As Dani said, the wait will not make much difference, but it's not like having a cold or a bad back etc. I hope you can get an earlier appointment, as it will put your mind at rest. All the best.

  • Possibly take a picture of the lump and the infection in your throat , attach the pictures to an email and send them to your GP, this may culminate in a fast response?

  • Thank you for your replies. I will be calling the doctors this morning.

  • Tell them you are worried it is cancer
