Hi all. I've not posted here in a while but I thought I'd share my thoughts, anxieties and worries over the future for my Dad who's recently been diagnosed with recurring SCC of the mouth. He was first diagnosed in 2019. He has radiotherapy and surgery (18 hours) and was cancer free for 2/3 years. It returned again in 2022 where he had surgery again. 3 years later it's returned and, due to his age, they are hesitant to put him under for surgery. He is 82 and has COPD/Asthma. It has gone into his jaw bone but not spread anywhere else.
He's been referred to oncology for possible immunotherapy. I was just wondering if anyone has had immunotherapy for this type of cancer? The prognosis they gave him was 6-12 months without treatment. I am quite scared but I understand immunotherapy can help. His clinic letter has stared the words *essentially palliative treatment".
Many thanks for reading
Anthony
Hi Anthony.
have a look through the threads here

There may be something for you there.
Sadly the response to immunotherapy is low at around 15% but I know of two people personally who have done really well, both have HPV driven cancers
