Tonsil cancer T2N0M0 had neck dissection and TORS robotic surgery to remove tumour 3 weeks ago.
Totally frustrated today , go to the hospital today for mdt meeting to discuss results from removal. Introduced to consultant never met before. Looked in my throat and said yes healing nicely. I said I don't even know what surgeon has done I thought I was getting my results today. His reply oh we have your results but you weren't discussed at our clinic meeting so I can't tell you what will happen next!!!!!
Told me lymph nodes are all clear, but tumour has an issue with a margin but cant say what treatment next. So I was expecting to walk out knowing one way or the other, now I'm in limbo again waiting for appt on wednesday next week.
I was so anxious in car on way there I had a bowl because I thought I'd be sick.
Told him my fit note for work was running out, he wrote me one for 2 weeks, flipping joke , I've got half my throat missing, cant eat or speak properly.
Sorry just needed to rant. Going to go outside and enjoy the sunshine now.
Struth! You poor girl. You shouldn’t be left in charge of somebody who can’t communicate with you. Get on to your CNS to get the soonest appointment there is after the next MDT
What they should have done was bring your appointment back till after the MDT
If there are issues with margins they will likely plan radiotherapy for you unless the surgeon thinks he can go back and take more surgically. Those are the options but you need to know.

Hi that’s so wrong on so many levels Do as Dani says contact your cancer nurse and say you want an appointment it’s unfair to be left hanging in mid air.
likely outcome would be radiotherapy if margins aren’t sufficient they may also add chemo to mop upon lymph nodes. We’re here to help you treatments hard but it’s doable one day at a time
. Like Dani says the surgeon might get what’s left, try not to worry easy to say but not to do. There’s lots of us that’s have successfully completed radiotherapy. Hugs hope the sun helps.

Just feel now like I've had all the surgery for nothing.
No you haven’t. There was a chance that’s all you would need. At least the target for RT is much smaller.

Good evening, Lindielou. It seems like it was a bit of a waste of time for you, as Dani said they should have waited until they had the results. Another annoying issue is when they change consultants/doctors who know nothing about you and often do not even read your notes. You have every reason to complain, especially with your inability to speak properly. Sometimes, they forget about people's feelings. Hope you managed to have some chill time in the sunshine. Take care.

Hi Lindielou
I had been keeping an eye out to see how you were doing.
Ridiculous to call you in with no results. Def get on to your CNS nurse to get that called forward. I think I felt at my lowest a couple of weeks after surgery - utterly miserable - but it will get better and quickly. I turned a sudden corner in terms of eating.
"I've got half my throat missing, cant eat or speak properly” - I know! It’s like you could fit a couple of golf balls where your tonsils were. I promise it will get better and heal - the holes have completely healed. My voice took longer than expected but I am back speaking publicly for a job.
I was told that if they were worried about margins they would first look at taking a bit more, probably with laser surgery. It was always worth the chance of trying to avoid RT and if you do have to go down that route the target will be clearer.
my fingers are still crossed for you. Kate
