Hi.  Last week I had a biopsy on a lump on my tonsil pillar and from my tonsil (although I had my tonsils removed when I was 7)

When I came round from the anaesthetic the surgeon said the lump was hard?    Is that something to worry about? I wasn’t really with it enough to ask.

I don’t get my results until next week. My mind is working over time.

I have had a lymph node in my neck tested and they have said it’s reactive and they can’t rule out low grade lymphoma.

any advice please

  • Hi Serena.
Have you been referred on the cancer pathway?
My biopsy was described as indurated ( which is medical speak for hardened) it was cancer.
St least you don’t have to wait long for your results. A week is pretty fast.

  • Hi Serena

I had lymph node ( by time of treatment 7 nodes ) which had squamous cancer cells init. My biopsy discovered cancer in tonsil crypt snd soft palate. I was diagnosed hpv16 + that was 7 years ago. If you’re unlucky enough to join us head and neck cancers respond extremely well to treatment. the waiting is the worstc but fear if the unknown.

If this is oropharyngeal cancer it has a cure rate of over 90%. I know at the moment that’s not much consolation but there are many of us active here or who have come and gone who are well and thriving.
The unknown just breeds fear so please don’t look for answers in Google. Stay with us here. There is always somebody to talk to.
