Hi all, I’ve always suffered with ear ache and I’m now wondering whether this could be connected to tongue cancer? Whilst having RT it did ease a bit possibly due to pain killers that I was on for months. However since easing off the pain killers I’ve noticed that I’ve got the dreaded ear ache back! Just wondering if anyone else has suffered with ear ache before and after treatment? Thanks in advance. Sue
Ear ache can be related to trauma/infection elsewhere in the mouth and throat. All the nerves in that area are intertwined and often earache is a symptom of another issue. There is also the possibility that the chemo/RT has affected the ear depending on where the target was. Best to discuss with your ENT at the next appointment - which is exactly what I am going to do as I have started to develop some ear issues that are probably totally unconnected with treatment, but are worth checking out.
Hello Sue
If you've *always* had earache it's probably not related to the cancer, as you haven't always had cancer. *But* I did have on-off mild earache and one-sided sore throats before I was diagnosed, which were related to my tumour. I haven't had any ear problems since treatment. As others have said, best ask your ENT specialist.
Good luck!
