Biopsy seeding

Quick question, looking for information. Found my cancer quite early and felt very relieved until I was told I had been unlucky and that the biopsy had caused seeding and surgery wasn’t possible to go back in  and get the seeding out. Not too sure on this, think because it’s small they don’t really know where to go for it. They know it’s seeded as they can tell when checking margins on the removed cancer. I have been offered radiotherapy which I have decided to have. Don’t get me wrong the hospital has been really good and explained in detail my options and possible future outcomes due to the seeding. They think any remaining cells will be close to the surface. Has anyone else had seeding from a biopsy, if so what has been your experience on treatment and your mental health and future recurrence from the seeding

  • Hi. Do you mean that the cancer has seeded along the path of a needle biopsy or that the surgical margins are inadequate ( ie there is cancer at the margins) ?

If the margins aren’t clear and your surgeon can’t operate again then RT is a no brainer

  • If you have time putting a brief description of your journey so far into your profile would be really useful.

  • Hi, yeh, sorry seeded along the path of the needle when doing the biopsy. Oncology realised this had happened when checking the margins, so I suppose in a way it’s both as I now have no clear margin.

  • sorry seeded along the path of the needle

It happens but it’s not common I can’t recall anybody here reporting it
