I’m thinking ahead here! I usually look after my grandchildren before and after school on Mondays and Tuesdays (but obviously not at the moment!). I’m wondering when I’ll be able to do so again. I know everyone is very different, but do those who have been through RT feel that they were functioning ok by week 5 after treatment ended?
I was on morphine still at 12 weeks and still pretty tired.
At five months I managed a walk round the Three Counties Show for a morning but had to rest when I got home.
I think 5 weeks is pretty optimistic considering the RT peaks around 2/3 weeks.

Hi Scorpio2710, I agree with Dani 5 weeks does seem a bit optimistic. I remember I was still feeling quite shattered for 3 to 4 months post treatment. You really need to give yourself the time to recover. However, we are all different and some recover quicker than others.
Ray.
Did you have chemo as well as RT?

Yes, I had 5 of 6 chemo days, and 30 RT sessions.
Ray.
Thanks - I’m not having chemo so hoping that will help.

Hi I was on morphine until week 12 recovery approx I flew to Spain week 8 and again week 18 . Our grandson was 8 and by then we had him on did occasions and took him away for a week. 6 months. I suppose it depends how old are they and what you have to do. I was having naps for a good year but I went when time suited me for 20 min. Power naps. I had radiation. fatigue which you can’t fight you ha r yo listen to your body. Saying that as long as I had my naps I could garden walk and ride my bike. 5 weeks could be a tad too early.
Hugs

Thanks Hazel - yes this is a tough one. We need to let the childminder know by mid March in order to book her for mid April. I’m on day 19 out of 30 tomorrow and so far only on paracetamol (and Oramorph at night). Only having RT to one side and still driving. It’s a difficult decision as I really want to have the children. But as you say - don’t want to push myself. I’ll wait to see if anyone who’s only had RT to one side comments……

Hi Bridget . If you are still driving be careful as opiates may invalidate your car insurance ? That’s what I was told back in 2018 might be worth checking even if it’s nighttime yiu are having it it may be still in your system.

Oh thanks I’ll check that with my insurers. The nurses told me it’s fine to drive if I’m not drowsy (the information leaflet with the Oramorph says the same). But I hadn’t thought about insurance - good call.
