Pet Scan - Lung Nodule

A few months ago I posted on here as my husband's first PET scan post treatment (Larynx cancer) showed up two lit up areas but we were told it was probably scarring form the radiotherapy. He had another PET scan 2 weeks ago. We got two letters from the hospital. The first one we opened stated that there was no evidence of residual or recurrent cancer. The second letter we opened had an "Addendum" which stated there was small lung nodule which again was most likely scarring. He is to have another scan in 3 months. We feel a bit deflated. Do we take this result as being good news or something we should be worried about?

Has anyone else had a "lung nodule" show up on a post treatment PET scan which turned out to be nothing?

  • Good evening, Jane. I would take it as good news. It's encouraging to hear that they are not dismissing anything, are keeping a close eye on your husband with the scans, and are not just fobbing you off. So well done to your consultant and their team. I have never had a "lung nodule." Wishing you and your husband all the best, take care.

  • Hi Jane, great to hear from you. These things are so worrying! However I have heard that nodules are very common, not that it makes it any easier not to worry!

my partner has also just had a PET-CT yesterday and this was also 10 weeks post treatment! I am so anxious!

  • I hope all goes well with your partner's scan. Scanxiety is a nightmare!
