Anyone have dentures here
i have a top one
removing all bottom teeth
eating will be very difficult
how long for dentures
Hi Spencer
My hubby had all his teeth removed 18 years ago . He got his dentures less than a year after the big op .for 2 mouth cancers. The surgeon said he'd only arrange for them usually 2 years after , but we kept asking . So he got his new teeth " just in case he met the Queen " ! For some time he tried to keep them in place all day ,and would discreetly take them out to eat, definitely not eating teeth .. but he gave up with that some years ago ......amazing what he could eat with just gums
. Wishing you well with your treatment.

Hi Zillah
So does you husband not wear his dentures at all now? My husband always had problems with his teeth. Before his cancer we spent a fortune on denture implants for his top denture and a partial bottom denture. He never liked wearing them. When he got throat cancer they removed the rest of his bottom teeth so he's been toothless for 8 months. He said once he gets NED he will go back and get his dentures altered. He had a PET scan yesterday.
To be honest he would be quite happy living toothless, it's me that encouraged him to wear dentures. After everything he's been though I feel like I should just let him be gummy if that's what he wants
Jane
Hello Jane,
No, he doesn't even know where they are! Like your hubby mine always had tooth trouble , fear of dentist, earaches , infections etc. He finally decided to spend £1000 to have a few rotten teeth out (with sedatives to get him through the door). Two years later.....mouth cancer . The consultant surgeon was so offended by the state of his remaining teeth ,he whipped them out during the cancer surgery . Hubby had been saying for years he wanted them all gone and was pleased .Only a bit miffed about the £1000 ! I was a bit shocked ,but it was the least of his problems.
Inspired by his Grandad's experience of eating almost everything with gums for 50 years , while his teeth remained in the bathroom cabinet , hubby was happy to follow suit . When Grandad died his sister opened the cabinet... and the teeth jumped out at her ....she was not amused , but we still laugh .
Tbh , I couldn’t tell the difference after a while .....you can get used to anything I've found ,and your hubby will be able to smile again, albeit toothlessly.
Keep smiling ,
Zillah .
