Hi,
Tomorrow (Monday) see’s the start of five weeks chemotherapy and six weeks of radiotherapy. I’m very anxious of what lies ahead. Thank you for sharing your experiences here as reading these has been very informative and humbling. It’s been what’s felt like a long process to get to this point with various tests, appointments and surgery.
Hi Jay
Good luck with the treatment... some tolerate the treatment better than others I hope that this happens in your case.
I finished chemoradio in June 2023....challenging treatment and recovery... 4 chemo and 30 radio....now eating well ...going on sunshine breaks...swimming...playing golf....it's not all doom and gloom.
Take care
Peter
Hi Jay. Good luck take it day by day any questions pop in and we will try to hell. Let us know where you’re cancer is when you’ve time then we can tailor responses. You can also pop info in your profile click your avatar and add basic info. Remember head and neck cancers generally respond well to treatment.

Hi Hazel
thank you, I appreciate that. The cancer tested positive in my left tonsil squamous cell. After my initial diagnosis I was admitted to hospital and had a tonsillectomy. Then a visit to the restorative dental dept ( two extractions). Everyone I have seen in the NHS and MacMillan have been absolutely amazing. I will be giving updates as I have found reading everyone’s experiences and the wealth of support here so encouraging.

Hi yes that was mine with lymph node involvement. Have you got your HPV status man6 if our orapharangeal cancers are driven by the HPV cirrus at least 80% of current diagnosis are HPV positive they do respond well to treatment.
One day at a time you’ll get there

I don’t have my HPV status and am scared to find out as it’s is the ‘better one to have’ and I have not seen it on any notes or letters T2 M0 N0.
Good luck for tomorrow. Don’t stress about hpv status non hpv still have a good response You oncologist should have tested first hpv status like I said non hpv still get good results.
let us know how you get in. Remember if you’re also having chemo tomorrow your mask may well feel a bit tighter it’s usual as we re pumped fill of saline it will sort it’s self out in a day or so.
best wishes

Hi Lorr O,
I was given my status by the oncologist at my appointment with the radiologist. I want sure what they meant when they gave me numbers and letters. They did tell me that it was “the better one to have” and that it reacts well to the treatments. When you go to your first session be sure to ask them if they can update you. Let me know how you get on….take care and hope tomorrow goes ok
