My Dad is terminal with his Sinus Cancer and we don’t know how long he’s got!
My mother complains about the smell coming from his nose and mum is making him feel like a Lepper, keeeps going on about it!
Any suggestions that might help with this?.. Make Dads life a little easier and happier!
Hi Aurabesh
So sorry to read about your poor dad.
Is there a chance that your dad could have a little respite time in a hospice while maybe your district nurse can try to help your mum understand?
It seems so awful.

Hi!
I wouldn’t dream of putting my Dad into a hospice, he’s very well in himself at the moment and still getting out and about!
Mum is just constantly complaining about the smell and making Dad feel awful! When I go round I really can’t smell much but then again I’m not living there!
I was wondering if there was anything medically they could give him to help!
No you misunderstand. Hospice isn’t just for end of life. It’s for respite too. A few days rest away from home.
Sorry I didn’t mean to offend you

Can he wear a mask?

Hi!
You didn’t offend me don’t worry!
I told my mum to be discreet and buy plug ins! Dad has COPD and struggles to breathe and I don’t think wearing a mask would help him as he struggled during Covid! And it would help his self esteem atm!
Im wondering if there’s anything medically they could recommend!
You could ask in our “Ask a nurse” section

Good evening, Aurabesh. This is so sad to read. This is not your dad's fault, and it must be so upsetting for him. I remember when one of my skin grafts started to die, so it gave off a smell. I could not smell it, but my wife could. Yet she certainly never complained about it; she just encouraged me until the skin graft was done again. Maybe your mum could wear perfume that masked the smell. I wish you all the best, Dad. Take care.
Chris
Good Evening!
Thank you for your kind words!
That’s must of been so difficult for you! Your wife sounds amazing!
Sadly my mum and dad don’t get on! And on Friday dad told me what mum had been saying to him and I had a massive go at her! Which ended up in her walking out of the room! Because I said to mum you can’t treat dad like a leaper!
