I wondered if anyone that had cancer from hpv if their spouse or partner got it too, what is the chance later in life.

  • what is the chance later in life.

The documented statistic is that partners have an up to 3% increased risk so statically insignificant.
Try not to add that to your worries. We all are infected with HPV but only a very small number of us don’t shed the infection. Even then, the virus hidden in our cells only rarely causes cancer.
All you can do is make sure youngsters are vaccinated at the appropriate age.

  • Hi As Dani says statistically don’t worry about it. Please ensure your children or grandchildren are vaccinated both boys and girls can have the vaccine from year 8 at high school. Preventing cancer eats coding cancer If you click below I was in over in a video this year encouraging vaccine uptake.
we were unlucky 80% of world population is infected with hpv 99% people bodies deal with it without us knowing we’ve has it. Of the remaining only a tiny % turn into cancer. But if we can regained by vaccination let’s encourage it. Our grandson has his in January this year.Hazel

  • I’m so paranoid since my husband had it. The last week I had a couple small canker  sores in my mouth which I never had so was worried. I’ve been looking up things and that makes it worse.

  • Chris. I’ve been here for six years and talked to hundreds of people and I have not come across a single case.
Why don’t you have a word with your husband’s oncologist who will surely put your mind at rest.

  • Dr Google is not your friend! Lots of scary, out of date & just plain wrong info on there. Cancer is not catching & you're so unlikely to get the same as your partner.  If you're really worried make an appointment to see your GP or dentist, or ask your partner's oncologist, and I'm sure you'll be reassured.

  • I will thanks, I haven’t told my husband this because I don’t want him to worry.

  • You aren’t going to catch this from your husband. He was infected by HPV years ago. This disease has a long latent period. It can be as long as 40 years. It’s a past event.
