Is it all in my head?
up until now the only symptom I’ve had is a lump when I swallow.
today I’ve started with a sore tongue but the biopsy was taken from the base of my tongue / throat.
Did anyone else have little or no symptoms?

I had a swollen tonsil to start with ...GP said not to worry, then a little lump appeared in my neck I thought it was a dental problem, dentist said no... back to GP who said again not to worry... tonsil became infected ....back to GP ....different one.... recognised it as something sinister....sent to ENT....2 year process.... with no pain or any major symptoms.

Did anyone else have little or no symptoms
None.
I kept dreaming I had cancer (Oncologist asked me how on earth I had spotted the tumour and you can imagine why I didn't tell him)
Found a lump with my finger at the back of my tongue. It was causing no problems and you couldn't see it ...just feel it

Hi Bex
The only signal I got was finding a lump in my neck one night when applying moisturiser. Nearly decided to ignore it, but informed my GP the following morning. She hauled me in within the hour and the rest as they say is history. Turned out to be a tumour at the back of my tongue and the lump was a lymph node which had come out in sympathy. They got it very early. If it hadn’t been for the whistleblowing lymph node I wouldn’t have known anything was wrong. There were no other symptoms.

My only symptom was what I thought was a swollen gland in my neck, which turned out to be a secondary to a large base of tongue tumour. I had no idea! That's quite a typical pathway for this type of cancer.
I don't know what stage you are at - maybe put it in your profile? - but I wish you all the very best. This forum is a fantastic source of info & support.

Hi,
I jad no symptoms at all that I would have noticed. It was my dentist doing a routine check when they found a lesion on the side of my tongue.
My current "symptoms" are all post-surgery. Which is still better than letting anything nasty grow!
